Transfer students

Transfer students from other colleges are required to complete the City College Milwaukee application which includes having the prior college(s) send us a copy of their transcripts. If a transfer student has completed English 101 or its equivalent within six years of making application to City College Milwaukee with at least a "C," he/she is not required to take the English placement test.

Evaluation of transfer credits

1. City College Milwaukee must receive an official transcript from the applicant's college(s), along with the college's catalog or relevant course description(s).

2. A minimum grade of C is required for transfer credits.

3. Courses that can be transferred must be similar in content to courses offered at City College Milwaukee.

4. Comparison will be made from a college's catalog, course description, credits, and accreditation status. It is the student's responsibility to provide City College Milwaukee with this information.

5. Courses from correspondence or distance education programs must be from recognized institutions holding appropriate accreditation. The courses must be equivalent in content and compatible in scope. Up to six semester credits from correspondence work will be allowed.

6. Courses from the Urban Bible Training Center (UBTC). Courses from UBTC are defined in terms of Continuing Education Units (CEU's) rather than credits. City College Milwaukee regards 4 CEU's from the UBTC program as equivalent to 3 college credits. A combination of courses that correspond to the student's program can be used to meet degree requirements.

7. All course work from North Central University and/or the Carlson Institute which corresponds to the program require¬ments of City College Milwaukee will transfer into the student's degree plan without limit. All other transfer students must complete at least 30 credits at City College Milwaukee to obtain a degree from the school.

8. U.S. Armed Forces Institute. City College Milwaukee grants credit for course work completed through the U.S. Armed Forces Institute. This usually applies to general education course work and is granted by the Dean of Academic Affairs upon review of transcripts. The student is responsible to have a copy of the official transcript sent to the Registrar's Office.
